We try to understand the role of ground-water in the hydrologic cycle by integrating measurement and simulation. This work is carried out in the field, the laboratory, and on computers. The Hydrogeology Program at CSULB is supported by the Bert and Ethel Conrey Endowment.
(3 Sept 2009) What does a geoscientist make? Look at the latest numbers from AGI.
(28 Aug 2009) Three new wells have been drilled on campus at Hard Fact Hill to support hydrogeology instruction. Drilling was generously donated by BC2 Environmental and supplies by Boart Longyear. Students stopped by to watch the drilling and see how a geologist logs a well. Look forward to some quality time with these wells in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Contaminant Hydrogeology!
(20 Jan, 2009) Matt Becker and George Tsoflias (Univ of Kansas) were just awarded a grant from the Department of Energy's Environmental Remediation Science Program (ERSP). The grant ($150k) will support flow and transport research in fractured bedrock.
(15 Dec, 2008) Matt Becker and Co-PI's at the University at Buffalo (Alan Rabideau, Joe Atkinson, and Sean Bennett) were awarded an NSF Instrumentation Grant to purchase a Fiber Optic Distributed Temperature Sensing System. The grant was awarded to U. at Buffalo but the device will be available to CSULB Geology Students.
